Like most attorneys who
handle complex custody, divorce and family law matters,
clients are billed on an hourly rate. Ms. Jaigobind’s
hourly rate is $250.00 per hour. We will require a fee
advance in all cases. The amount of this fee, commonly
referred to as a "retainer," will be determined at the
conclusion of your initial consultation and may be
$1,500.00 for a simple, uncontested matter or it may be
$10,000.00 or more depending on our assessment of the
complexity of your case. This fee is deposited into a
trust account with our firm.
Each month, you will receive a detailed bill indicating
the work that has been done on your behalf. At this
time, the amount owed to the firm is withdrawn as
indicated on your bill from your trust account. You will
be required to replenish your "retainer" and maintain
the advance fee balance in your trust account throughout
our representation.
In addition to legal fees, some costs will be incurred
on your behalf and you are responsible for these costs,
such as delivery charges, excess postage, photocopying
costs, etc. These costs will be included on your bill
each month. You may be requested to pay third parties,
such as process servers, court reporters, or expert
witnesses directly.
The exact terms of our billing will be explained in a
written fee agreement should you wish to retain The
Custody Center, P.C.
